John Carroll is a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist who has explored music as his mode of expression for over 25 years. Influenced by musicians Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, Tom Waits, Fred McDowell, John Prine and Lyle Lovette, John’s mixture of country blues, folk, roots and rock n’ roll provide an intricate landscape for his mindfully crafted lyrics. “Where many musicians are players and many are story-tellers, John Carroll combines the two into understated and yet passionate art” (Amanda Putz, CBC Radio). His first two full length solo albums, “The True Confessions of an Infamous Liar,” (2003) and “Lost Radio” (2008) were well received and sold to audiences all over Canada, the U.S and parts of Europe. John’s albums fit “comfortably into a variety of genres and time-periods, all the while synthesizing the eclectic elements” of “his music into a coherent, contemporary and colorful sound” (indieAndie.ca).

John is now finished his third full length album, “Everybody Smokes in Hell,” due for release on January 14th, at the Black Sheep Inn.  John will be performing the release with his band The Epic Proportions, (Fred Guignon on guitar & lap steel, Olivier Fairfield on drums & Phillipe Charbonneau on upright bass).  All details of the release are above.  Please visit John’s new website: www.johncarrollmusic.com for samples of his upcoming  cd as well as available free downloads from his previous two records, MP3 tunes and physical records for sale, plus video, press, news and touring info.
